I seek a fortune
By chebet Caroline In a distant city away from home mama, Far away from your warmth and generous smile Far away from your constant shoulder tap and bravos Far away in the city where wildest dreams seek manifestations In a starry city far away mama, Mama, I seek a fortune In the city where everything seems strange Mama, in a city far away where gentle smiles are rare Mama, in a land where everyone hustle to live Where there is no time to shake, smile and laugh Mama, I seek a fortune. I patiently wait to struck the gold I patiently wait to fill my bag with monies Mama, I seek the treasure in a bustling city I eagerly wait for a time mama, When in bliss all dreams will get a visibility. Momma, I seek a fortune Detached from your warmth, Barred from your embrace Detained from your smile Chained from all goodness of a mother, Rubbished from being an apple of your eye, Mama, I am locked up in the cold, To find a fortune, Amidst all these, Mama, I will fight to emerge, I will fight the bravest fight Mama, To deserve your bravo and shoulder tap again, Mama, I seek a fortune. ©chebet Caroline 2011 |
