Pania cleared her voice with a muffled cough. Then, called Keith's mom.
"HELLO," a loud boisterous woman proclaimed on the other end of the phone.
Pania replied, "Hi Mrs. Riley. I'm Pania Harley. Your son Keith dates my daughter, Brianna."
"Please, call me Theresa," Mrs. Riley offered. And she continued, "I've heard a lot about your daughter, but only seen her in pictures. We probably would talk on the phone if it wasn't for those damn cell phones."
"They've been going out for almost a year," Pania commented.
Theresa answered back, "Keith doesn't want me to meddle. He thinks I'd run her life because I have nothing better to do."
Pania gasped on the phone and started laughing like Carl.
"Well, I'd like to invite you over for dinner next Saturday. You're most welcome to bring a guest with you," offered Pania.
"I'd love to Patina, except my in-laws will be visiting. So my house will be full," said Theresa.
"Paaa-neee-ahhhh. P-A-N-I-A," explained Pania.
Theresa quickly replied, "I'm sorry. Paenia."
"My great grandparents on both sides were from Austria. So, my mother wanted to keep some Austrian in me. But Paenia is close enough. Anyways, How many people are going to be over next weekend," asked Pania?
"Patrick's mom and sister with her husband and a 12-year old son. They visit every summer," reported Theresa.
Patrick must have been her late husband. Pania did some quick thinking and suggested, "Bring everyone over. The more the merrier. I also have 2 younger children. And my ex-husband is bringing his wife. He suggested Indian food too, but I don't mind doing a backyard bbq. We have a huge yard with great patio furniture surrounded by lush greenery."
"That's so nice of you. I don't want to put you out of your way though," a concerned Theresa replied.
"I love party planning. It's actually nothing out of the ordinary for me. We could get to know everyone. This'll be so much fun," a happy Pania squealed!
Theresa asked, "I can bring something over. Please, let me handle dessert."
"That's so nice of you. Anything would be fine. Thank you. And I heard that you don't drink alcohol. So I'll serve non-alcoholic cocktails. We'll see you at 5:30 pm," remarked Pania.
"Really, fruit punch or soda is fine for my family. No need for any trouble. And I'm not upset if your family enjoys beer or wine. It's just my preference not to drink," said Theresa.
"We'll be over at 5:30pm next Saturday with shorts and desserts," Theresa assured Pania.
"Great see ya then," replied Pania!
