A heartfelt letter of gratitude
Down Here I Called Her Mama
by Suzie Q
For a moment, Dear Lord, I'd like to refrain
From the tears I've shed at Your knee And send up a heartfelt "Thank You" For the angel You sent down to me Angelic she was, in every way This treasure You sent from above Down here I called her Mama And she answered me with love From my earliest memory of my smallest deed I looked up into a face filled with pride If I didn't win the race, or didn't even place All that mattered to her was I tried She was my pat on the back when I did a good job When I failed, she was always my shoulder Now that I'm here, and she's there with You I'm so thankful, Dear Lord, that I told her She was my light when surrounded by darkness For in her wisdom she taught me to see There was nothing to fear, for You're always near And it was that lesson that set me free For I'm sure deep down she always knew Someday You'd be calling her home And I'd have to retrieve, what she taught me to believe Or I'd never make it on my own So I thank You again for my heavenly friend Though it broke my heart to say goodbye Till I join her above, please give her all my love And a hug for every star in Your sky |

My Mom passed away 6-2-95, and I wrote this not long after. I just wanted to take a break from the grief and give thanks to God for blessing me with her in the first place. I know I probably sound like a broken record in light of my other postings so far, but please be patient. I have much more to write about besides the losses I've experienced. It just helps to share my family with all of you. I have a couple more tributes to my Mom, and then I will move on, I promise :)
