An acrostic Valentine poem with a twist

Bittersweet Valentine

by Melody Ringo

Valentines Day is lucky for lovers
A day like no other, a day of
Love, laughter, lustful liberty,
Endless chocolate kisses, candles, soft music
Nebulous affirmations of endless devotion
Till death do us part,
In sickness and in health, et al. But for those with
No one to love, this day brings
Ever painful memories of what was, or could have been
Someday, if only the stars align - alas, a
Day of tears when lonely red hearts turn blue
And single souls yearn for
Yesterdays that never were and tomorrows that are yet to be.

Valentines Love Poem contest entry

The contest calls for writers to create a Valentines Day acrostic poem.

I wanted to express both sides of the Valentines Day experience. The first half is dedicated to those who have found someone to love; the second half is dedicated to those who are still searching.

May we all aspire to love and be loved.

Pays one point and 2 member cents.
