A Saga Of A Faded Flower Child
by Sandy P.
A season of love and hate combust and combine
Scheming politicians busy covering up their crimes And President "Tricky Dickie" with a dirty slate Gathering his cronies to tap the Watergate A long and wretched war fought in a distant place Our TV's transmit horrors as heads bow for grace Fleeting, stolen glances that time cannot erase A nation's shattered innocence at Camelot's demise Jackie gracefully mourns as the whole world cries And Dr. King and Bobby slain before our eyes Despite the shock, we pray their dream survives Everyone's mantra - Sex, Drugs & Rock 'n Roll Dylan, Smoky and Jimi adding rhythm and soul Flying high, our troubles Blowing In The Wind Living life, With a Little Help From Our Friends Outta Sight in our tie-dyes and bell-bottom jeans Woodstock's legendary mother of a music scene Era of Helter Skelter as Manson's bloodbath shocks Race for space ignites - Armstrong's moonwalk rocks Cinema stars Butch, Sundance and McQueen, so hot Hell No We Won't Go - protesting in a cloud of pot Innocence of youth going out with a roar Love-ins & sit-ins - Making Love Not War Destiny united us for this time of our lives |
