Not the Person I was Before
by AlvinTEthington
see author's note for description of form
If I never see you again,
My world would become a dull grey. The dark days would be full of rain; My mind and my soul would decay. I would stay inside my abode-- Not answering the door or phone. Upon my back a heavy load And wanting to be all alone... No people would I see or hear; I would not venture out the door-- Not wanting people to come near, Not the person I was before. The sky's bow that follows the rain Would not refract a prism now. All it would show is my own pain; No bright colors would it allow... Apathy would knock at the door; All emotion would be in vain. Just plain living would be a chore If I never see you again... |
