Mother's Way (The birds & the bees)

by Badger_29

"When motherhood becomes the fruit of a deep yearning, not the result of ignorance or accident, its children will become the foundation of a new race" Margaret Sanger
‘Tis grand to behold
     a summer breeze,
hot soup when it’s cold
     a laugh, a sneeze

A blossoming tree
     by dawn’s early light,
the buzz of a bee
     in purposeful flight

Some cool lemonade
     in the afternoon;
the light which shines
     from a full harvest moon

The languorous time
of evenings' rest;
a meaningful rhyme,
a hummingbird's nest

But when a child
     enters this world,
tender and mild
     the future unfurled,

It’s surely the best
     occasion of all!
To look on his face,
     cherubic and small

You’ll suckle your son
     held close to your breast,
it will give you great joy
     to offer your best!

Instilling good traits
     you’ll teach with finesse,
and open the gates
     which lead to success

Then tucking in bed
     at the end of the day
“Good night, sleepy-head”,
     loving, in mother's way
