It was a long time ago Or maybe yesterday, My heart knows no time Since you slipped away. One day, we welcomed your birth And the next you were grown, A brave, adventurous spirit With a future unknown. I remember your laughter And the love we shared, As a family together Knowing we all cared. It was a long time ago Or maybe yesterday, My heart knows no time Since you slipped away. There will be no graduation, Or any future for you, You have no tomorrows But why, I've no clue. Tragedy found you And you could not stay. We're left with sorrow as We remember this day. It was a long time ago Or maybe yesterday, My heart knows no time Since you slipped away. Hearts filled with memories Of the young man we love, And thoughts that you're near Looking down from above. The love that we shared I'll hold close to my heart, Until God calls me home Where we'll never part. It was a long time ago Or maybe yesterday, My heart knows no time Since you slipped away. Today, I'll kneel at your grave And again, I will see, You softly whisper, "Nana, You know you love me." |

On September 1, 2008 my seventeen year old grandson, DJ, died in a water accident. Some times it feels like yesterday and other times, it feels like so long ago, but our love will live forever in my heart until I can share it to him again.
