The Last Beep
by eliz100
The shrill, steady, beep of the monitor provided the backdrop. Jaqueline knelt in her stolen nurse's uniform, with a rosary laced in her hands. "You bastard," she whispered through clenched teeth. "You gave me life all right, only to take it away night after night as you snuck into my room. Don't tell your mama 'cause she won't love you." you would tell me every night.
She took the syringe out of her pocket and injected the potassium into the IV.
The beeping slowed.....beep.......beep..........beep. Finally, the beeping stopped and the monitor emitted a continuous high-pitched noise.
