Lost among love
Tonight
by Dklrdmcches
I want to hold you, kiss you, love you tonight.
I want to tell candy-coated puppy-dog stories tonight. The picture that I paint is one of you, me, Drinks, and endless sweat complete with a night's sleep. Tonight, I saw you with him, yes, the man with the cash. Holding hands, pecks on the lips and the lap dance. Yes, I saw you tonight, you were holding her hand, Under the table at Sunsets along Sunset Road in Ocean. Tonight, I saw you strolling along the Atlantic, Laughing and smiling with the boy with the can of pop. I followed along the same weathered path you took, Looking for clues to undo the hurt that I feel. Tonight, I don't want to love, dance, or even cry. Tonight, I glance out over the jetty, contemplating The life that has just been ripped apart by the lies you tell. Whenever I was alone with you, I was born again, young again. Now, sitting here, I wonder what has become of you. Tonight, a man is broken, beaten, and out of choices. Tonight, you laugh, sip wine, and mingle with the crowd. Tonight, life taught a lesson to a man without joy. Tonight, a man with a heart made the jump into another life... |
