Faith should not be an ultimatum.

Surviving Our Convictions

by William Stephenson1

My Faith Contest Winner

I pass a roadside sign that says,
Repent!
As if to suggest
shame and guilt,
fear and failure.
Something dreadful will happen.

But,
to be in Recovery,
Repentance means to turn
and take hold
of the invitation
God offers to us.

Not,
to look at our past and say,
"Oh, how awful!"
But,
to look in the mirror and say,
"Oh, how hopeful!"

Faith.
It means that a fresh start
is possible.
God has given me
the power to change.
To believe,
that not all the doors are shut and locked.

Faith:
To believe that the door
of Grace is open to us all
and it is never locked.
Even death can't close this door.

Faith.
It means putting a "Yes!"
on my face
instead of a "No!"

Faith:
To affirm that
God has a divine "YES!"
for my life.

My Faith
Contest Winner

I have spent a lifetime assisting people living in fear and anxiety that there is no hope for them or for their loved one. I urge them to consider that God's power to change someone is more powerful than anything they can do or their loved one can do. That God has eternity to win us.
