Morning Coffee

I walk through the dewy grass, spread birdseed near the red maple. Amble back inside, grab my coffee, then sit on my patio. I sip and watch a robin bob over and gobble seeds. In the leaves above, two squirrels hustle, not wanting to miss their morning fill.

I inhale the aroma of coffee, mingle with the scent of the fresh morning. I hear the world awaken. Singing birds, chattering squirrels and the buzz of honeybees. The sun creeps higher. My signal that work is ahead. I’m sad I must leave Nature’s symphony, life in my yard, a blended harmony.
