Golden Years

Golden years? Give me a break

Mine are made of lead

Was looking forward to the happy times

I got served mediocre crap instead

No partner to share grand vacations with

After many years of giving

But I am all alone as you  can see

I don't really call this living

As I pinch my meager pennies

So hard you can hear them squeal

I wonder who to complain to

About this rotten deal

I feel misused and really quite upset

There is no reward that I can see,

Where do we go for recompense

Show me "The Giving Tree."

I sit here moping all alone

Emptiness fills my heart

Just where are these golden years

Tell me then, when do they start?
