The Boulder

He ponders his journey and sets fear aside.
A boulder has tumbled and now sits astride
the pathway to freedom the trav’ler must trod.
He sees his dilemma and calls out to God

There is no redemption in striving alone.
As fear sweeps his conscience his soul doth bemoan.
The path is obstructed. He looks up to pray.
“Lord please grip this boulder and take it away”

The minutes seem hours and heighten his fears.
Does God hear his passion or cover His ears?
As patience grows weary, fierce doubt fills his heart.
God’s mercy is bounty, His grace doth impart.

The trav’ler gets mercy. His grateful heart sings.
The Lord has imparted His grace with swift wings.
With fear now diminished; his joy now restored.
The Lord and the trav’ler join in one accord.
