A poem about a Man

Flight of the Monarch

by dovemarie

My butterfly flew all around me
Then soared away
Years of alighting on a flower
I felt his awesome power

Then he'd flit away into the sunset
He is someone hard to forget
At times his friendship was well-meant
We had moments of happiness well-spent

He was as colorful as the butterfly
Winging along out of a sunny sky
He was a monarch
Who receded into his cocoon so dark

I followed him through his flight
From sickrooms to our last overnight
Now he's emerged into Heavenly light
