How does trauma mold a young mind?

Impacted By Trauma

by Avery Daniel

Well, there was, of course, the Immaculate Conception, in which I easily could’ve been wiped off my mom’s back like my fellow comrades who would’ve been even more of a wreck than myself. But after I was conceived, that was truly when the storm started brewing.

My early years… well, they must’ve been less ideal than I care to remember, because I honestly remember very little of my “true” childhood, in which I believe it to be quite arbitrary to assign a random number to adulthood, especially as I’m 30-years-old now, and I only just feel I’ve left the childhood era.

I have this innate sense to believe my younger years may have been as traumatic as even my two younger siblings, and perhaps, the abuse I suffered was worse— to keep my brain in near-total denial. Well, the messed up man is now pushing to become the next best-seller.

Your Life in 150 words writing prompt entry
Writing Prompt
Write the entire story of your life in no more than 150 words. You can be experimental, creative, funny, serious, provocative, reflective, whatever style you best feel represents your life. You must write about your entire life, not just a moment of it. No poetry (too easy). No fiction (YOUR life), although metaphors are acceptable so long as they are directly interpretable to be about your life. You'll be surprised at what your life looks like in 150 words.

I really wish the restraints weren’t so severe, as it’s very hard to truly hash through an entire life with such brevity, but this is a bit of insight to me as a real human living it up!
