A little about me

Beat of My Drum

by Cecilia A Heiskary

I'm beating to my own drum
Can you not hear the hum?
I've done things my way
And nobody had a say

When I was a young child
I was meek and a little wild
I would walk and disappear
In my own realm of the sphere

Navy days are quite the haze
I partied, went out in a blaze
Never got in trouble though
I grew and went with the flow

Civilian life, quite the shock
Had to sit and take stock
What to do with my life now?
Need to get a grip, somehow

I'm living the retired life
I'm a mother and a wife
Through it I have stayed true
Beating my drum, through and through

Recognized

One of my favorite sayings is I beat to my own drum. I read a story by Esther Brown and she basically said she was a rebel. I am also. So thank you Esther for the idea.
