My Worst Fear...

Thoughts of a Literary Madman

by Tom Horonzy

I like to write short stories, prose and even poetry, and on an occasion a mix of all three.  I write about any and everything, every now and then, thoughts burbling from my mind like magma from a lava tube.

A piece can be word, scene, or thought-based coming as easy as farts after devouring three tins of beans.  At other times they arrive in grunts and groans, the aftereffects of a course of alcohol, cheese, and chocolate.

Rarely do I know where I am headed  and less seldom where a rendering ends.  It may be fun but can be as frustrating as an infant striving to stand on its own.

My writing is akin to a homegrown recipe, unknowing what ingredients I should put in,  and whether to braise, baste, or bake the words. Success sometimes happens; failure does as well. What author can tell whether a reader declares, "It's delightfully delicious or... dreadfully distasteful."

At other times, my mind, body, and soul impregnate words aimlessly passing each other, analogous to politicians opening their mouths, ending in gibberish, reading like a stump speech, penned to leave an impression of intelligence.

Therefore, my worst fear may be, I do not know, in ending here, what it is I have accomplished. Is it a creative work of genius, or a deranged arrangement of a literary madman? Respond as you please or RSVP which in French would be 'repondez s'il vous plait.'
