The Spirit of Nature & Earth, reflecting on snow.

When I snow, I remember

by Me and Erin G

When I snow, I remember

Yet I snow to forget

Snow is my masquerade, an indulgence

to drift, to reminisce

Oh how beautiful I once was

when unencumbered,

unblemished by evolution, by progress, by man

     I had no parking lots.

There were no battlefields, no trenches,

There was no Antietam or Nanjing or Auschwitz

I had meadows, green and lush

          Streams, flowing and flush

          And trees, majestic and plush

Snow is my promise, my sprinkle of hope,

Snow is my blanket of glistening glaze,

Snow is my sparkle

A flurry of flakes, whitewashing my regret.

A friend asked me if I could write a poem on the spot. "I can come up with the bones, the embryo, yes. But typically I need a bit of time to mold it into a poem I am satisfied with."
He said "write about a snowfall and how it makes one reflect on life."
These are the reflections from the point of view of Mother Nature/Mother Earth.
