The Rival in the Glass

The Majestic Stranger

by BermyBye50

Behold!

A vision of elegance,

her a shimmering coat,

stands before me.

The mirror,

that sly magician,

has gifted me

a glimpse of greatness—

She moves as I move,

a dance of perfect symmetry.

Her gaze is piercing and golden.

I raise a paw—

she mirrors me,

Then, like a shadow,

she vanishes.

Where has she gone?

Oh, wait.

She’s back. Clever.

Very clever.

But I shall not be outwitted.

This game of illusions

grows tiresome.

With a regal flick of my tail,

I leave her behind,

knowing the mirror cannot hold

the majesty of me.
