if I can’t see you

I don’t need my eyes

if I can’t kiss you

     I don’t need my lips —

all I need is my heart to love you

Tanka is a Japanese unrhymed five-line poem. English tanka has 31 syllables or LESS because Japanese are different than English syllables. Tanka originated in the 6th century at the Japanese Imperial Court where lovers exchanged tanka poems for each other after a night of passionate lovemaking. With contemporary tanka, the topic varies.
