A reflection upon Ezekiel 3:17

The Watchman

by Robert Zimmerman

The Watchmen treks atop the guarding wall.
His vision strains so keen within; without.
His task ensures the city will not fall.
While shadows down below move all about.

His orders from the Master are so clear.
For those inside the wall; erase their fright,
and keep the people safe without a fear.
Preclude their breathless times, both day and night.

The Watchman knows responsibility.
Instructions from the Master are so hard.
The Watchman must defend humanity.
And keep the people safe within the yard.

Unless the Watchman’s task is clear and fast,
the people lose their safety if he fails.
Security is fractured and outcast.
The darkened air will fill with screams and wails.

The Master and the Watchman have a bond.
Their purpose is to make all lives secure.
When people choose their way and then respond,
all precious lives and souls shall then endure.

This is an observation of the Lord's instructions to the Watchman in Ezekiel 3:17. "Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me."
More can be learned about the Watchman at Ezekiel 33: 1-9
I used MS Copilot to create the picture.
