Faith in faith
Whispers of Grace
by Patty Mazzurco
Faith, to me, is more than just belief—it’s the heartbeat of my life. It’s the quiet whisper of God’s presence when I feel lost and the overwhelming peace that floods my heart when I trust in His plan. It’s the knowing that no matter how hard life gets, there’s always grace, always love, always hope, even in the darkest moments. My faith is my lifeline, my anchor in the storm. It’s a promise that I am never truly alone.
One afternoon, as I sat on the porch, feeling the weight of grief after my mom’s passing, I felt completely overwhelmed. Tears blurred my vision, and my heart ached with the pain of her absence. And then, in that raw, vulnerable moment, a butterfly landed softly on my shoulder. The world seemed to pause. I could feel the warmth of my mom’s love, like a gentle embrace, and in that instant, I felt God’s grace flood over me. The butterfly lingered for a few precious seconds, its wings delicate and beautiful, and then it fluttered away.
I knew that it was a message from heaven—a sign that my mom’s love still surrounds me, shining brightly from the other side, guided by God’s endless grace. It was a reminder that even in grief, God’s love is right there, tender and real.
I believe that moment was no coincidence. It was God’s way of showing me that love never dies, that the bonds we share with our loved ones remain eternal. Faith is what lets me see these signs, to feel God’s presence in the smallest of things. Through my faith, I find comfort in knowing that God’s love is always there, reaching out to us in ways we can never fully understand, but always feel, even in times of sorrow and loss.
