Christmas poem
The Day I Came Alive
A Christmas walk aroused my sleeping heart
Igniting senses long since left for dead.
A thousand charges gave my flesh a start
And fresh awareness sparked inside my head.
I caught the scent of wonder in the air
Where once, in haste I hurried past the smell.
And so enticed I stopped to linger there
And let the fragrance hold me in its spell.
Then sounds of praises loud enough to hear
I dared tune in to listen for a while.
Where once, indifference turned a deafened ear
It helped me understand the Baby's smile
My soul refreshed my senses so revived
I swore to keep this feeling every day.
This Christmas marks the day I came alive
And now in its enlightenment I'll stay.
