The life and times of a Crocus

A chapter in the book The Poets Menagerie

Crocus

by Lea Tonin1

White armed tendril tastes rich soil

Premature winters death coil.

Come late for natures brisk call

Seedless scent, a mighty fall

Unfurls, unwraps pushed the ice

Make the break not once but twice

Stretching limbs embraced the light

Shining grape face surreal sight.

Giving sun the petals fly

Splitting bulb the falls cool sigh

Soon to slumber almost due

Spring will come not one but two
