Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level
A poem about the sun coming up

Sunrise

by Cecilia A Heiskary

Sunrises in the east
Sky colored blues and pinks
And when nighttime has ceased
The last of the moon sinks

Night creatures gone away
Sleeping till dusk arrives
Creatures are out today
Hop, skip and feel alive

Sun starts to make its climb
The hues, orange and yellow
It's a great day in time
Birds sing and are mellow

Great day to be a child
A lovely morning's way
Imagination's wild
And a great day to play

Sun feels warm on my face
The warmth improves my mood
Hummingbirds in a race
Chase those who are pursued

Trees dancing in the wind
Flowers smile at the sky
The leaves twirling behind
That almost makes me high

The day has come and gone
The sunsets in the west
And nighttime makes me yawn
It's time to get some rest

This is another love of nature poem. I wrote the original poem and my good friend and mentor Debi Marquette helped with the syllable count and helped clean it up.
Thank you so much Debi.
