A little bit of happiness.
A Midnight Walk on Christmas Eve
Quietly, I step into the night with my hat and coat pulled tight. The wind and snow harass my face, but it's the night of our Savior's birth I want to embrace. The snow crunches beneath my boots while in the distance, a train whistle toots. The last few cars hurry slowly home, knowing Christmas smiles will soon come.
The bitter wind and snow begin to wane, drawing me past glowing windowpanes. I stop by to pet a lighted reindeer who beckons me near. We dance in the snow with an elf standing by Santa's sleigh while the horses across the street gently neigh. Our group stops to bow at an angel protecting the Child who lies so helpless and mild.
The mob of lighted creatures grows when a giant Frosty and Santa enters its flow. The Grinch growls at the happy bunch but follows along, hoping for a fruit punch. Many other friends join the parade, such as Winnie the Pooh and Cindy Lou Who, who enter the crusade.
Down Main Street, we come, and I'm leading the way. To the town's Christmas Tree, we dance and play. Once around the tree, the happy creatures sing with glee. Back home again, I glance down the street at my friends, never wanting this night to end.
