A poem

We are somebody's fool

by royowen

They say that we're somebody's fool,
obsession's slave, a craven tool.
But if a master's kind and firm,
He'll pay our debt, our judgement burn.

For nobody enslaves our souls,
and fires it in compulsion's coals.
Our minds and wills can't be possessed,
nor sins can pin our crown and crest..

Yet I will choose to wear my awl,
in my ear-lobe, fulfil my call.
For God declares me son and heir,
and I will rest within God's care.

For no compulsion sets us free,
unless it's one who prunes our tree.
And by His side as friend and bride,
we rule His heart, in love abide.

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works,so that no one may boast. ESV
