An exploration of how faith might be achieved

Faith Formation

by PenRose

Faith Formation
Faith to me is total belief in the unbelievable and seeing the invisible as well as feeling the untouchable.  Faith in its rawist form goes against the most basic crux of the human condition.  In most cases from early in our lives we are taught that the proof is in the pudding so to speak.  One can describe to you the steak along with how it's seasoned and the odor it exudes as well as how it's cooked but the true knowing of it's deliciousness is in the tasting, savoring, chewing, and swallowing.

For most people to achieve true faith in a higher power I feel that there first must be a driving force.  This force can represent either a tragedy or an epiphany thereby causing a sudden and dramatic shift in one's experiences and therefore affecting their focus and the core at which thoughts and beliefs are formed.

For instance, if someone were to survive a horrific automobile accident this could create a place where real faith in a higher being may suddenly be heartfelt.  At the same time, an unexpected blessing such as finding a church family where you feel instantly welcome and supported might give rise to faith in organized religion.

Personally, there was a time in my life where I thought that I didn't have enough money to pay my bills so I cheated a client and lied about how much money I was owed by one hundred dollars.  Then my electric bill was exactly one hundred dollars higher than expected therefore showing me that God provides and I can make it on the money I legitimately earn.  This caused me to have faith in God and in myself also.  This made me become a more honest person even in the face of adversity.
