Snowbird life, here we come!

Walkabout

by Esther Brown

It is time for our winter walkabout. The snow has blanketed the mountain tops. Very soon we will have to shovel our lengthy drive. Daisy is a princess, and despises the cold. HunnyBunny is whiny because his old joints ache. I want to escape the Christmas crazies. It’s time to go.

We leave when we are ready. The road will go south, because that is where the sun is shining.

Walkabout means we have a loosely planned trip: a possible route, probable destination, with an indefinite return. We will be back when my flowers are blooming, or when we run out of money. If we find a great spot, we stay a bit. No such thing as being lost. Our best treasures are off the beaten path: pioneer graveyards, museums, ghost towns, and unexpected beauty we don’t have to share with other tourists.

We have our ATV and aim to travel the AZ peace trail. Meet old friends and make new ones. May the adventures begin!
