Getting old is a journey

Think Young

by patcelaw

We get old
when
we think we're old.
Then
we begin to act
in a manner that makes us look old,
with an
uneasy gait and lose
our balance and fall,
making us
so much older than
we are, and may well break some bones.
We are only as old as we think
so think young every day.

This is a CADEA poem using the first 14 numbers for pi 3.141592653589. I find this to be a very challenging format, but I really enjoy using it. The image is from Facebook.
I wrote this out of the experience of being one who has gotten very old at 86. I still try to think young and sometimes that gets me in trouble. I have broken some bones with falling and I have to use a walker.
