Still Smiling Somehow

Harold Had Hopes

by Karen Cherry Threadgill

Harold, well, was nobody's vibrant dream

He thought he once was though, you could tell.

He must not have any mirrors around

As he never dressed very well.

He had a girlfriend at one time

And everyone believed she was swell.

But when the cops came and took her away

She ended right back up in her cell.

Harold tried a computer dating site

He saw Ellen's picture and  fell

She saw his income listed on the page

And put the man through hell.

Harold doesn't really date much anymore

His romances left quite a sad,sad trail

He said he gave dating up for lent

And, he'll be single again for a spell.
