Who broke the vase?
Not Us
by Gunner Lil
The author has placed a warning on this post for language."Just pick up pieces," I said pointing to the mess on the hardwood floor. I looked at my eight year old twins. They must have been playing grab ass and got wild.
"Okay you guys, which one of you got careless?" I stood there with my hands on my hips. A Marine D. I. would be proud.
They looked at each other and in harmony said, "Not me."
"I'm going to ask you both one more time. Who broke the vase?"
"It wasn't us, mom." They both said. "Can we go out?"
"Hell no," I said. "Someone has to clean this mess up. It ain't me."
The backdoor opened and in walked my husband with a broom and dust pan.
"What's going on? I could hear the yelling in the garage."
"These two are lying. They broke the vase and won't own up to it."
"Calm down honey. I broke the damn thing not them," he said. "I went to get the broom. I'll just pick up the pieces."
I looked at the twins and asked, "Who wants an ice cream sundae?"
