Christmas Pajamas

These Christmas pajamas,

Once worn in turn by each of my three little loves,

Whose eyes shone with adoration and celebration and belief,

And whose arms inside the red sleeves wrapped so tightly around my neck to convey the depth of their feelings for me,

Are no longer big enough to be worn. 

I gather the soft, small fabric against my chest, and I allow myself to weep.
