The Evil Advances

by papa55mike

'tis the night of all Hallows eve
when you wear evil on your sleeve
children don masks to scare
spreading demonic power, unaware

a green mist rises from the bog
it mixes with the thick fog
an evil of much renown
drifts toward the unsuspecting town

Jim Carrington slides into his new pickup after having one too many drinks. The fog spreads around his truck, filling him with dangerous thoughts and taking his mind off driving. He thinks he sees a scantily dressed young woman waving at him in the green fog. Jim doesn't see the stop sign and slams his truck into Mrs. Evan's minivan full of children on the way to a party. Thankfully, no one lost their life, but evil has changed many lives.

the green fog creeps along the highway
searching for another to lead astray
it hears dangerous rage in a loud voice
the hellish one smiles at his choice

The green mist fills the porch, enveloping its next two victims. A father and daughter are screaming at each other. The Father claims she has been in her boyfriend's bed, and fierce anger pours from his mouth. His filthy words defile his young one, and the beating begins until the Mother steps in to protect her daughter. Later that night, the daughter slips out her window and vows never to return. Her life is changed forever by a whisper in her Father's ear.

the deadline looms as midnight approaches
evil things arrive in the bog carrying torches
skeletons dance while witches cackle
naming all the souls they tackled

the night was utterly sinful
and outrageously disgraceful
