Prayer group intensifies

Honest moment

by Sammy105

Sharing after sharing flooded at him, like waves, from everyone at the prayer group. People struggling and digging for prayer requests, grasping them out of thin air, meaningless happenings which were to be processed and prayed for. Total pulp, jibberish, though not much more insignificat than his own, he admitted to 'imself.

Her hand went up to her face, then down... He noticed her hair, straight and slightly wavy, covering half her face... Her Asian ambiance gave it a certain effect, one that increased the power of her avoid him... her serious face, large eyes, rough skin, thick lips...
He couldn't stop staring. It was getting embarssing and... and he wondered if she noticed his stare, even unintentional.

She threw a very quick glance his way, then her hand went up adjust her sexy hair - to ruffle it a bit along the bottom. He figured she noticed him. He moved his glance along to the other sharers. They didn't sense him looking because he wasn't thinking of them, but of the Asian girl.

He remembered the StubHub commercial where a mixed couple starts to kiss awkwardly against a talking tree... Asian girl/white guy. He imagined it being him and this peculiar girl sitting across the sofa from him, teasing him intensely without trying, without dressing for the part. Her hair now covered most of her face, which he found so adorable, his breath shortened.

He saw himself slowly getting up, floating on over to her... narrowly escaping the sofa edge... cupping the sides of her head... getting her attention... turning her head so their eyes lock... laying a kiss on her... his other hand wandered the side of her body, stopping at the hip...

His daydream was cut short with her looking right at him, giving him an awkward smile... His staring must have gone overboard. He hurried to look at the floor, his face turning crimson.

As everyone was walking away from the group prayer share, her heard a "hey."

She stood next to him, hands in pockets, giving him a deer-in-headlights mixed with derision type of stare.

"Do I look funny to you? I saw you stare at me."

He blushed even more.

"No, just... I'm sorry, I didn't realize I was.... You're very pretty and charming, I got carried away, sorry."

Her smile turned more natural.

"Well, that's improvement, flattery and honesty. You have me on Linked-In, stay in touch? Ok?" She waved her hand right into his face. "Bye." Her smile stayed. She walked away.

He stood on the spot for a good twenty seconds. Then took out his phone and found her, admiring her photo. "The guy from the awkward prayer group. Let's get awkward again somewhere out there? I buy you lunch or dinner. Let me know."

He tried to imitate her awkward smile, and strolled off into the metaphorical sunset.
