Oh, you are entry

What Do We See in We

by Tom Horonzy

You are... me. Aren't you?
I feel sure of it. What of you?
I once was told...

"You are... (speaking of me)
 tall, dark, and handsome,"

but what is it that you now see?"
"Stooped, greyed, and icky, I'd be?"

You are... being less than nice
but then again, you may be right.
I have changed, haven't I,
with each passing decade?

You are, though, a composite
of the have-beens, I had-been,
whereas you see me being
reconstituted of renovated parts.

C'est la vie
You. too, will be, eventually.
When it happens, you might
as well, do tell, end up
speaking with oneself, like me.

Oh, you are... are you? writing prompt entry
Writing Prompt
Write a humorous free verse or free style poem about YOU, as though you are talking to yourself! Recommended (but not required) that you start every stanza (except your last stanza) with "You are..." . You may start your last stanza with whatever you choose. Your poem can be of any length and genre.

The picture was snapped by me at an old-timey barber shop, and seemed appropriate for the 'You are' challenge . It's good to be tested occasionally.
Pays one point and 2 member cents.
