Transit scene

Train Smoke

by Jewell Hermann

Stepped thru a door that slides

Bags of plastic grasped in hand, grocery likely reside

Kick scooter, scooted aside

To get to

2 doors face to face

One pulled open

Not so sudan jerk

Many wheels rotate

Friction does little to slow them down

Cold air from tunnel dark, seeps in

White stick pulled, poison contained, light with flame

Smoke wafts out betwixt the cars.
