A poem about a beautiful sunset

At Sunset

by E Lloyd Kelly

Sitting here in awe I’m a-watching. The hot yellow sun, slowly a-setting.

Tumbling down bit by bit. Carrying the light of the day with it.

Watching shadows, a-growing tall. As the dark grew braver into nightfall.

And geese flying south to yonder rest. To feed their young and cover the nest.

But I just sit in the same old spot. As I blink my eyes in awe and watch.

The golden sun’s long spiky ray. Besides the stained-glass windows in a tall frame A.

In the front of a church where the speckled bird perched. While I still sit there in awe and stare.

At the sinking sun behind trees there. Where it went down… and out.

After transporting a group to a game in another city, I sat in my vehicle to try and stay warm while waiting for the return trip. But then, the sights and scenery caught my attention, so I snapped a few pictures on my phone. Looking over those picks later, I was struck by the poetry popping out at me. This is what followed.
