A chapter in the book 2024 Gypsy's Free Verse

~* Tonight *~

by Gypsy Blue Rose

tonight,

      in the starry sky

      the moon trembles and cries

.

the wind whispers

      susurrus of longing songs

      and dances ballet pirouettes

.

you were my first love

the one I still yearn for

      but we had to part

.

I remember

how I felt in your arms

the way you kept me safe

from my painful past

..

sunrises and sunsets

      drowned in our eyes

      yours cinnamon brown

      and mine blue sky

.

tonight I feel our loss

      and I can write

      melancholic poems

      about our past

.

tonight

.

.

-Pirouette= a rapid whirling, a full turn on the toe or ball of one foot in ballet
-Susurrus =a whispering or rustling sound
