Story of a bull ride.

You rode him boy

by Willie P. Smith

He said a prayer
Before his ride.
The fear in his heart
He could not hide.

The bull he drew
No one could ride,
He couldn't withdraw,
He had too much pride.

He asked God
To see him through,
As he stood and watched
The bull he drew.

With a snort and puff
The bull charged his way,
If not for the fence
He'd be dead today.

He didn't run
From the bulls charge,
Even though he was
Angry, mean, and large.

"You can ride him,"
Said a friend,
With a hand on his shoulder
Like it was the end.

The bull stood silent
Stopped by the fence,
The cowboy's fear
He could sense.

Time came
For his ride,
His friend stood steadfast
By his side.

The bull went wild
While being mounted,
For eight long seconds,
The clock counted.

Then all at once
Time stood still,
He only remembered,
How hard he fell.

He heard the crowd
Shouting with joy.
While his friend was saying,
"You rode him, boy."
