Who let you in here?

by wilkswrites

Who let you in here?

I have always felt peace here until
one day as I walked quietly into the room
with style and grace
I see you sitting there with that large face

Because I don't know you, I hide and watch you
slip and slide across the room
with your mouth wide open
Toungue hanging out
Slippin and slidin all over the shinny floor
Going so fast, that you run right into the door

I watch you carefully as I crouch beneath the couch
wondering when you will settle down
and stop running around like a crazy clown

Mom yells at you to sit, but you wag your tail
as slob escapes your open mouth and hits the floor
right near my bed; a wad of spit

Who let you in here, I ask myself as I look to Mom and
back at you again.
When will you be leaving?
Cuz we cannot possibly live here together
This is my spot

I feel your breath as you sniff
for me from the other side of my hiding place
Trying to make friends and play
But it aint gonna happen, dawg
No, No, not today.
So please, please just go away
Here, you cannot possibly stay!

Animal Opinions writing prompt entry
Writing Prompt
Write a humorous poem about one animal's opinion of another. Any style, rhyming or free verse welcome.
Have fun!

I always wonder how cats view dogs. My sister has a huge cat who I adore. She's quiet, and clean, and well-trained. My daughter has a dog that charges me each time I enter the house, and sniffs my private parts, which I find to be so obnoxious. I now understand that he just wants some affection, but the difference between the two pets is amazing. The cat might run in my direction, but she quietly stares at me and waits for me to give affection, while the dog almost demands it as he barks and pants and wags that tail. Nothing against dogs, but I do prefer the quietness of cats.
