Red in our world

The Colour Red

by tempeste

 
Red is the colour of love
passion and desire,
a burning wildfire
 
It's lust for ruby lips
that teasingly suck
on a cherry lollipop.

Red is the forbidden apple
a flaming maple
a raspberry bramble

It's a crimson sunset
a Robin that tweets
ruby cheeks so sweet

Red is Julia Roberts' locks
the comb on feisty cocks
flowing lava, molten rocks

A red poppy field
symbolises the loss of life
on gory battlefields

A reminder of the blood spilt
of gruesome kills
 on forgotten hills.
