Autumn Slumber

enveloped in my cozy world
world blanketed in eider down
down drowsy trails of slumber's mist
mist muffles all the natural sounds
 
sounds of gentle pattering
pattering drops upon my pane
pane cooled by autumn's chilly hand
hand blustering with frosted rain
 
rain plays a muted melody
melody of slow, haunting tunes
tunes that weave a web of sleep
sleep snares me as it gently croons
