A day with a mentally ill Mother
Crazy
Can't wake you up today, Mother
Who will you be
Forever unsure
Of the eyes I will see
I eagerly wait
The classroom is near
Away from delusion
Where things are more clear
I don't want my breakfast
I'll skip the cartoons
I can't find my shoes
Our house is in ruins
A goodbye to crazy
At least for the day
You tell me "don't go"
You want me to stay
Some laughs in the school yard
A perfect escape
Dreaded are weekends
And long summer breaks
A slow walk home
To see what awaits
I kick past the fence
And open the gate
I come back now
to just what I need
As I am only 10
I cannot be freed
A mothers love
Will always be
I am not like you
But you are still in me
