Abide in Christ.
My Faith
by John Cranford
My faith is in the cross. More importantly, my faith lies in what happened on the Cross. God gave what He didn't require Abraham to give...He sacrificed His only Son.
To the unbelieving outside world, the Cross is just an insignificant footnote in history. But to the believer, the Cross is the most important event that ever occurred and more powerful than any country or empire that ever existed or ever will exist.
The final three words that Christ uttered on the Cross, "It is finished" changed the world forever. With those three words, He atoned for all the sins of the world. God brought down all His wrath for those sins on Jesus'
shoulders. When He looked at Jesus on the Cross, He saw the ugliness of all the world's sins. With those three words, Jesus gave up His spirit and died. In the world's eyes it was a tragedy; in God eyes it was a triumph.
Through His death, Jesus restored the world to where God had intended it to be. Now, when God looks at us, He sees the spotless, white purity of Christ. Through His resurrection and ascension, Jesus opened the door to Heaven through which those who choose to follow Him can enter into eternity.
Christ's death on the Cross and atonement not only provided a way for us to enter God's Kingdom, it also changed our access to God. We no longer must go through a priest to talk to God. We can pray directly to Him.
Our salvation is so easy because it cost God so much. He gave His all for us. All He asks in return is that we surrender our lives to Christ and follow Him. Because of my faith, I will bear my cross and follow in His footsteps.
