A dream of what could be on a lonely night

Stargazers

by Keely Fiedorowicz

On a lonely night
Slumbering away
Before I sleep
I think away
Of how a night like this
Could be spent....

Curled up tight
On a fuzzy blanket
Dizzy from love and the night sky
Content without wine in our picnic basket
Like in the books and movies
Content with our clothes on
Unlike the books and movies
We are unlike a lot of things
We
Are
An
Original

You're falling asleep
And as you're about to close your eyes
I take your hand
And point up at the dark night sky
"We've already done enough
Stargazing for the night,"
You protest
So I take a breath and say,
"You see all these stars?"
You nod sleepily
"A long time ago I dreamed on even
More stars than this
Just for you and I."
You sleepily smile
Far far away
In bed I smile sleepily too
Then sleep comes to take us both

I dream of this same instance
Wherein truth we could have nights
Together
And we could even fall asleep together
Under the moon
and Love's spell
As stargazers...
