A Vessel He Could Use

by patcelaw

God has blessed me beyond all measure,
though I was so undeserving,
God saw me as a vessel
that with a little work,
He would make into
a vessel that
He could use
to praise
Him.

I am very confident that there was one situation in my life where God worked in me, and it was because of me making the right decision that he has blessed my life so greatly through the years. That situation in my life was when I had been raped and became pregnant as a result of the rape and my family wanted me to abort the child, but I chose to give birth to the child. I said to my family, if there is a God, I will not answer to him for murder. I still feel that way today. If anyone wants to argue with me that is your right, but I feel that God can bless even the most difficult situation and it could come out to be the best thing for any young woman. I have known a number of young women who have given birth to a child conceived in rape and their lives have been blessed as well.
The photo was taken of me just a couple of months ago when I was having lunch with my family.

I went through the labor,
but never held him in my arms
as I gave him for adoption,
so other saw his childish charms,
but it is always been my prayer
that all these years he did know
it was because I really loved him
that I had to let him go.
He has a special mother
to care for him I am sure
and the love she has for him
is one that will endure.
Though I never held him
or saw his boyish smile
I have always loved him
and hope to see him in a while
in a while in heaven,
just through the pearly gates
when we are together there
where our loving Savior waits.

I wrote the above poem about a year and 1/2 before I met him. He was 35 when I met him and he said two words that made it worth the 35 years that I waited to ever even touch him. He said to me thank you.
