Pain is a powerful reminder
Pills
Last night I took my pills with hot coffee.
It reminded me of you,
Hard pills to swallow,
With the painful sensation of a burning tongue.
Yet I still did it.
And I’ll do it again.
The reminders clear in my mind,
That this pain,
Despite the sweet beverage,
Still hurts.
