Teikei-shi is a rhymed Japanese poem, a rare form since most Japanese poetry is free verse. The first Chinese poems that appeared in Japan were classified as this type of poetry. The syllable count is 31 syllables or less in 5 lines with a 5-7-5-7-7 form.
